Drug kingpin Baisoya deported from Dubai in Rs 6,000-crore case
A man suspected of being a big drug boss is coming back to India from a faraway city called Dubai.
His name is Virender Baisoya, and he is accused in a huge drug case worth 6,000 crore rupees.
The police in India wanted him for a long time and even asked countries around the world to help find him.
He was caught in Dubai and put on an airplane to be brought back to India.
The plane was an Air India flight, and special police agencies took charge of him.
India's Home Minister said the government is being very tough, or 'ruthless,' with people who sell drugs.
He said even drug traffickers who hide in other countries will not be able to escape the law.
Before Baisoya came back, another person, Vishakha Rathod, was also brought back from the UAE because of a big money fraud case.
Now both are in the hands of the police in India.
Virender Singh Baisoya, an accused in the Rs 6,000-crore Pune drug case, was arrested in Dubai and deported to India.
Baisoya was flown to India on Air India flight AI 4310 after being the subject of a Red Corner Notice issued by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
He is a close associate of Sandeep Dhuniya, the prime accused in a Delhi Police drug case involving 13,000 cases; Dhuniya reportedly fled Dubai to Pakistan.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the government adopted a 'ruthless approach' to tracking down drug traffickers hiding abroad and dismantling their networks.
Baisoya's deportation follows the return of Vishakha Rathod from the UAE on August 3; Rathod is wanted in an alleged Rs 88-crore fraud and is in Maharashtra Police custody.
