Court allows NCB to take drug kingpin Basoya to Pune
A special police team in India called the NCB catches people who make or sell illegal drugs.
The team caught a man named Virender Singh Basoya.
He was hiding in the United Arab Emirates, a country far away, and was sent back to India.
The police believe he was the boss of a big drug-selling group.
He ran the group from another country and had been hiding since 2024.
A court in Delhi said the police may take him to Pune for three days to ask him questions.
He will travel on an airplane, and the police need special permission for that.
The police found more than 1,800 kilograms of a drug called Mephedrone, also known as 'meow meow'.
Sixteen other people in the group have already been caught.
Now the police want to talk to Basoya about the drugs they found.
A Delhi court granted the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) a three-day transit remand of drug kingpin Virender Singh Basoya to produce him before a Pune court.
Basoya, extradited from the UAE, had been absconding since 2024 and is accused of masterminding a Mephedrone trafficking syndicate from abroad.
He will be flown from Delhi to Pune, pending permission from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
Investigators recovered approximately 867 kg of Mephedrone in Pune and 970 kg in Delhi, totalling about 1,837 kg.
Sixteen people have already been arrested with a chargesheet filed; Basoya also faces a Delhi Police Special Cell probe into international cocaine trafficking.
