Heavy Rain Keeps Chhattisgarh on Alert as Six Districts Warned
Chhattisgarh is getting a lot of rain because of an active monsoon spell.
Weather officials have given six districts an orange warning and 15 districts a yellow warning.
Some places received very large amounts of rain in just one day.
Raipur also had heavy rain and may see thunder and lightning.
The rain damaged a culvert near Kotadol.
This has disrupted an important road connecting the area with Madhya Pradesh.
Across the state, rainfall is close to the normal amount for this time of year.
Officials expect the rain to become less intense from Wednesday, September 2.
The Meteorological Department issued an orange warning for six Chhattisgarh districts and a yellow warning for 15 others.
Chando recorded 290 mm of rain in 24 hours, while Kotadol received 168 mm and Shankargarh 120 mm.
Raipur city recorded 131 mm, with more rain, thunder and lightning expected Tuesday.
Flooding damaged the Khirki Nala culvert at Kotadol, disrupting the main road to Madhya Pradesh.
Chhattisgarh has received 917.1 mm of rain since June 1, about 2% below its seasonal average.
