Tamil Nadu Unveils Sweeping Housing and Urban Planning Reforms
Tamil Nadu has announced many changes to improve housing and city planning.
People can now apply online to buy homes, plots, and commercial properties from the Tamil Nadu Housing Board.
The online portal lists 7,659 units, and 660 homes have already been sold.
The government is also using maps and computers to plan the future growth of towns and regions.
A new AI system called SPEED is being developed to make building approvals faster.
Some small industrial buildings can receive approval through self-certification.
The state is building 27,407 homes this financial year to help make cities free of slums before 2031.
It is also preparing a long-term master plan for Chennai and improving public transport planning.
