A new flyover in Kolkata is being built to help traffic move faster between the EM Bypass and the IT area in Salt Lake.

A railways company called Rites checked how much it would cost and said it would be ₹1,218 crore, more than the ₹900 crore the state had planned.

Rites only looked at the money, not the design details.

The project will be 5.99 km long, have four lanes, and will need the state’s finance approval before bids can be invited.

Once approved, the construction company KMDA will start the bidding process.
