Bengaluru Plans Another Toll Elevated Corridor to Kanakapura Road
Bengaluru plans to build another elevated road in the southern part of the city.
This road would connect Ragigudda and Kanakapura Road.
It would be about 18.5 kilometres long.
Drivers would have to pay a toll to use it.
The road would mostly run near an existing busy road.
It would follow the Pipeline Road route.
It would also be above or beside the Green Line metro in some places.
The project is part of a much larger plan for 13 elevated corridors.
Together, those corridors are expected to cost Rs 18,000 crore.
Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited invited bids for an 18.5-kilometre toll-based elevated corridor.
The proposed route will connect Ragigudda with Kanakapura Road in southern Bengaluru.
The corridor will largely parallel the congested surface road linking Silk Board-side traffic with Kanakapura Road.
It will follow the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board Pipeline Road alignment and run above or alongside the Green Line metro.
The project is one of 13 planned elevated corridors covering more than 126 kilometres at an estimated cost of Rs 18,000 crore.
