J&K’s Online RTI Portal Draws 65,000 Applications in 19 Months
Jammu and Kashmir has an online website where people can ask the government for information.
More than 65,000 questions were submitted through it in 19 months.
People also filed more than 9,000 appeals when they were not satisfied with an answer or response.

The Jammu and Kashmir online RTI portal received 65,243 applications between January 10, 2025, and August 26, 2026.
The portal also recorded 9,033 first appeals during the same period.
The figures were provided by the General Administration Department in response to an RTI filed by activist Raman Kumar Sharma.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah launched the portal in 2025 to let citizens submit RTI applications online.
Sharma welcomed the usage but urged authorities to add more grassroots offices, including chief education officers, district police and rural development offices.
