J&K Government College Admissions Rise 16% Through Central Portal
More students joined government colleges in Jammu and Kashmir this year.
About 47,150 students received admission in the first phase.
This was around 16% more than last year’s comparable figure.
Students applied and paid fees online through one central portal.
The portal used students’ higher-secondary marks to help allocate seats.
It also let students improve their allotted seats in later rounds.
Officials said 106 colleges increased their enrolment.
A second admission phase will be held for students who pass supplementary examinations and for seats that remain vacant.
A total of 47,150 students secured undergraduate admission in Phase-I of J&K’s 2026–27 government college admissions.
The figure is about 16% higher than the roughly 40,800 admissions recorded in the corresponding phase last session.
Direct allocation accounted for 35,040 admissions, while 12,110 students entered through the walk-in mode.
The online Centralised Admission Portal used a Union Territory-wide merit list, seat upgradation, and automatic fee migration.
Phase-II admissions for leftover seats will open after supplementary examination results are declared.
