Gujarat seizes suspected adulterated ghee, oils worth Rs 35 lakh
Ghee, Oils Worth Rs 35 Lakh Seized After Food Authority Raids In Gujarat · NDTV

Food safety officers in Gujarat found places where ghee, a kind of clarified butter, might have been mixed with cheaper oils to cheat people.

They carried out checks in two towns called Surat and Deesa.

In Surat, they found a factory that did not have a proper license to make food.

The factory was locked from the outside, but people were working inside, making and packing ghee.

Officers took away a lot of the ghee along with palmolein oil and soybean oil they think were used to fake it.

In Deesa, they took away more ghee that they suspected was mixed with other things.

All the seized food has been sent to laboratories for testing.

The health minister said nobody who plays with people's health will be let off.

He promised the checks against fake food would get even stricter in the coming days.
