IIT Madras Backs Rs 323 Crore Uppada Coastal Protection Wall
The beach near a place called Uppada in India is slowly washing away.
The Andhra Pradesh government wants to stop this by building a big wall along the coast.
The wall will cost about 323 crore rupees, which is a very large amount of money.
Smart engineers from IIT Madras, a famous university, will help design the wall.
They will study the waves, sea currents and how fast the beach is eroding.
The engineers will also check the work while the wall is being built.
Leaders signed a special agreement to make this project official.
This wall will help protect the land, homes and people near the sea.
Building work is expected to start in November.
The Andhra Pradesh government will construct a coastal protection wall at Uppada in Kakinada district at an estimated cost of Rs 323 crore.
IIT Madras signed an MoU to prepare the Detailed Project Report and provide technical supervision during construction.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan at his camp office in Mangalagiri, Guntur district.
The project is approved under the National Disaster Management Fund, with the State Disaster Management Authority as nodal agency and Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board as executing agency.
IIT Madras experts will study coastal erosion severity, sea currents and wave action, with district authorities planning to begin works from November.
