Chennai Egmore Train Services Shifted for Station Redevelopment
Indian Railways is fixing up the big train station in Chennai called Egmore.
Because of the repairs, some trains will not stop there for a couple of weeks.
Instead, they will start or finish at nearby stations Tambaram or Mambalam.
This helps keep the station working while it gets better.
The changes start on August 5 and finish on August 20, 2026.
Indian Railways announced train service changes at Chennai Egmore from 5 August 2026.
The redevelopment aims to handle more passengers and trains, improving capacity.
Several trains will be diverted, rescheduled, short‑terminated or originate from alternative stations.
Express trains will temporarily start and end at Tambaram/Mambalam between 5 and 20 August 2026.
The station is managed by the Chennai Division of Southern Railway.
