Telangana sanctions Rs 20 crore for Narayanapur tank development

In the state of Telangana in India, the government decided to spend Rs 20 crore to improve a big water tank called the Narayanapur Tank.

The money will be used to buy about 35 acres of land so the tank's walls, called its bund, can be made bigger and stronger.

This is part of a large irrigation project known as the Sripada Yellampalli Project.

Farmers depend on this tank to water their crops, because the rain does not always come when they need it.

Workers will also build a new gravity canal and strengthen other canals so water can flow to more farms.

When the work is finished, the project will help supply water to about 49,500 acres of farmland and an extra one lakh acres from a balancing reservoir.

Farmers living in the Gangadhara, Boinpalli, Kodimial and Malyala areas will benefit the most.

Having more water stored will also help raise groundwater levels and can even ease drinking water shortages in nearby villages.

Local leaders, including MLA Medipalli Satyam, welcomed the decision and thanked Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

They say this is an important step towards making sure every farmer can grow crops permanently.
