Search Intensifies for Seven Missing Fishermen at Sea
Seven fishermen went out to sea from Odalarevu on August 3.
They were expected to return around August 15 or 16.
Their families last spoke with them on August 5.
Since then, nobody has heard from them.
Officials are searching for their boat and the fishermen.
The Indian Coast Guard, police, Fisheries Department and other teams are helping.
The Indian Navy may also assist.
The boat had a radio but did not have a tracking transponder.
Officials have asked other boats and coastal communities to report any information.
Seven fishermen went missing after leaving Odalarevu Fish Landing Centre on August 3.
The fishermen were aboard 12-metre boat MO 135 and last contacted family members on August 5.
Search operations involve the Indian Coast Guard, Marine Police, civil police and Fisheries Department.
The search area was expanded because the boat reportedly travelled 120 to 150 kilometres offshore.
Authorities registered a missing-person case and are analysing call records and other technical information.
