Eight Fishermen Missing Off Andhra Coast, Coast Guard Alerted
A fishing boat went out to sea with eight people on board.
The boat was supposed to come back on August 13.
But it did not come back.
The people in charge of the area became worried.
They called the Indian Coast Guard to help look for the boat.
The boat had enough food for about 15 days.
It also had about 1,000 litres of diesel.
The boat was heading toward Visakhapatnam and Paradip.
Officials tried calling the fishermen, but nobody answered.
Now the police and fisheries department are working together to find them and keep their families informed.
A fishing boat carrying eight fishermen from Odalarevu Fish Landing Centre has failed to return to port.
The boat, registered IND-AP-E8-MO-135, left the harbour on August 3 and was expected back on August 13.
The Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district administration alerted the Indian Coast Guard to begin search and rescue operations.
The boat reportedly headed toward Visakhapatnam and Paradip coastal areas with about 15 days of provisions and 1,000 litres of diesel.
Officials could not reach the fishermen by phone, and Collector Dr R Mahesh Kumar ordered fisheries and police to coordinate the search.
