Assam Expands Low-Interest Loans and Subsidies for Agri-Entrepreneurs

Assam wants to help farmers and food-processing businesses grow.

The state has announced more financial support for agri-entrepreneurs and Farmer Producer Organisations.

The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund can provide loans of up to Rs 2 crore.

It also lowers borrowing costs through a three per cent interest benefit.

Businesses can additionally use support from the PMFME scheme if they qualify.

PMFME can cover 35 per cent of eligible project costs.

Individual enterprises can receive up to Rs 10 lakh, while common infrastructure can receive up to Rs 3 crore.

The combined support is intended to help businesses build facilities, process more food and create rural livelihood opportunities.
