Vijayawada Organisers Invite Students to Sri Krishna Janmashtami Competitions
A group in Vijayawada is planning celebrations for Sri Krishna Janmashtami.
The programme will take place from September 4 to 9.
Children can join competitions on September 4, 5 and 6.
They can dress up as Sri Krishna or a Gopika.
They can also recite Bhagavad Gita verses or give speeches.
Younger children will compete separately from older students.
Winners will receive prizes.
The celebrations will end with a procession carrying Lord Krishna in a palanquin.
Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations will be held at VMC Park ground from September 4 to 9.
School competitions are scheduled for September 4, 5 and 6 from 5 p.m.
Events include Krishna and Gopika fancy dress, Bhagavad Gita sloka recitation and elocution.
Students from nursery to Class 5 will compete in the junior category, while Classes 6 to 10 form the senior category.
Organisers visited nearby government and private schools and asked students to register by September 1.
