Assam Cabinet Approves Land Acquisition Funds for Guwahati Satellite City
The Assam government's leaders, called the Cabinet, had a big meeting in Guwahati.
The Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced what they decided.
They approved money to buy land for a new satellite city near the Guwahati airport, where new homes and other buildings will be built.
They also approved a new Taj hotel near a computer-chip factory in Jagiroad.
People from the Moran and Matak communities will get extra time to get their Aadhaar identity cards.
Small tea growers will not have to pay agriculture tax if they earn up to Rs 10 lakh.
College graduates can get Rs 2,500 every month for a year through a scheme called Jibon Prerana.
People who get government jobs will have police checks done within six months, and if no report comes, the job becomes permanent.
These decisions are meant to help Assam grow and support its people.
The Assam Cabinet approved Rs 2,100 crore for the first phase of land acquisition for the Aerotropolis Satellite City Project near Guwahati airport; total acquisition is expected to cost around Rs 4,000 crore.
It approved a Taj Gateway Hotel by Indian Hotels Company Ltd near the Tatas' semiconductor unit in Jagiroad, with a draft lease deed between Assam Industrial Development Corporation Ltd and the hotel company.
Aadhaar enrolment relaxation was extended to the Moran and Matak communities until March 31, 2027, joining Tea Tribes and Adivasis.
Small tea growers will get zero agriculture tax up to Rs 10 lakh net income, and the Chief Minister's Jibon Prerana Scheme received a Rs 118.58 crore budget for 2026-27.
Following a Supreme Court order, government jobs will require police verification completed within six months, with automatic confirmation of the position if police do not submit a report.
