Panvel Hosts 'Vande Mataram – 150' Exhibition Ahead of Independence Day
There is a big celebration coming up in India called Independence Day.
In a city called Panvel, the city government set up a special exhibition before that day.
The exhibition is all about a famous patriotic song called 'Vande Mataram', which is 150 years old.
The song was written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, and later Rabindranath Tagore added music to it.
The show tells the story of the song, from when it was first written to when it was first recorded.
It also shows how freedom fighter Madam Bhikaji Cama held up a flag with the words 'Vande Mataram' on it.
There is even a big, colourful rangoli made with coloured powders at the exhibition.
Schools and colleges are joining in with their own tricolour rangolis and exhibitions.
The goal is to make people feel proud of their national flag and their country's history.
Panvel Municipal Corporation inaugurated the 'Vande Mataram – The Call of India's Freedom Struggle' exhibition, marking 150 years of the patriotic song.
The exhibition was launched by MLA Prashant Thakur at the Adya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Natyagruha in Panvel as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign.
It traces the song's history, including Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's authorship, its first publication and public rendition, translations, and Rabindranath Tagore's musical composition.
Displays cover the song's first recording, the 'Vande Mataram' movement, and Madam Bhikaji Cama unfurling a flag bearing the words 'Vande Mataram'.
School activities such as tricolour rangoli competitions and information exhibitions were organised at Shantiniketan Public School, KLE Junior College and Gokhale Vidyalaya.
