Odisha CM attributes Partition to British divide and rule
Many years ago, India was one big country.
Then it was split into two countries: India and Pakistan.
This split is called the Partition.
Lots of people had to leave their homes, and many were hurt.
The Chief Minister of Odisha spoke about this sad time on a special remembrance day.
He said the British rulers and some political leaders made decisions that caused it.
He remembered famous people who came to India as refugees and later did great things.
He also said some people who moved to Pakistan were treated unfairly.
He wants everyone to remember this history and stay united.
He asked people to celebrate Independence Day with pride and to protect the country.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi blamed the British government's 'divide and rule' policy and the 'wrong decisions' of Muslim League and Congress leaders for the Partition.
He said lakhs of people were killed and thousands of women were subjected to sexual violence during the Partition.
Majhi cited refugees including LK Advani, Manmohan Singh and Milkha Singh, who rose to prominent positions in India after migrating.
He claimed Muslims who migrated to Pakistan continued to face discrimination there, including being called 'Mohajirs'.
He urged citizens to celebrate Independence Day with pride while remaining vigilant to protect the country's unity and integrity.
