Mumbai Proposes Nodal Agency for Koliwada, Gaothan Demarcation Issues

Mumbai is a huge city in India where many different people live.

A long time ago, before the city government was formed, there were special neighbourhoods called Koliwadas and gaothans.

Koliwadas are home to fishing families, and gaothans are very old village settlements.

These neighbourhoods are not drawn correctly on the official maps the city uses for planning.

Because they are missing from the maps, the city does not have proper plans for them, and people have trouble getting permission to repair their homes.

A group called the Koliwada Gaothan Seva Samiti works to help these communities.

The group met with Mumbai's Mayor and other leaders to ask for a special team to fix the maps.

The team would include city officials, community members, and architects.

The Mayor agreed to consider the idea and said the city might fund new roads, water pipes, and other facilities in these areas.

This would help the fishing families and other residents get the services they need.
