First Maharashtra Steel Bridge Launched for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train
A new steel bridge has been built for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.
It crosses NH-3, also called the Nashik Highway, in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra.
The bridge is 100 metres long and weighs about 1,405 tonnes.
It is the first steel bridge finished for this project in Maharashtra.
Workers made its parts in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.
The parts were carried to Maharashtra on trailers and assembled there.
Workers then moved the bridge into place above the highway.
The bridge is needed where the train line must cross a road using a long span.
There are plans for 28 such steel bridges, and 16 have been completed.
NHSRCL launched a 100-metre steel bridge over NH-3 at Dive-Anjur village in Bhiwandi, Thane district.
The bridge weighs approximately 1,405 metric tonnes and is 14 metres high and 14 metres wide.
It is the first steel bridge completed in Maharashtra for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor.
Sixteen of the corridor’s 28 planned steel bridges have now been completed.
The bridge was fabricated in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, transported about 1,300 kilometres, assembled and installed during traffic blocks.
