Uttar Pradesh GeM Firms Rise 15%, Adding Over 1 Lakh Sellers
More businesses in Uttar Pradesh joined a government online shopping and selling platform called GeM.
The number of registered firms rose by more than 1 lakh in one year.
Small businesses made up a large part of this increase.
More women-owned businesses, startups, and SC/ST-owned firms also joined.
This gives these businesses more chances to sell goods and services to government departments.
A state GeM official said Uttar Pradesh’s procurement policy has made the process more transparent and competitive.

Uttar Pradesh firms registered on the Government e-Marketplace rose 15% to 7,86,687 by March 31, 2026.
The state added 1,01,199 registered firms in one year, compared with 6,85,488 on March 31, 2025.
Micro and small enterprise registrations increased 16%, from 1,06,855 to 1,23,075.
Women-owned firms and startups each grew 21%, while SC/ST firms increased 18%.
GeM officials attributed the growth to Uttar Pradesh policies supporting MSMEs, local entrepreneurs, and government procurement access.
