Russia Bids To Sell Five More Op Sindoor Legend S-400 Missile Systems To India · NDTV

Russia has offered to sell India five more S-400 air-defence units.

These systems use radar and missiles to find and stop aircraft and other threats.

India already has four units from an earlier agreement and expects a fifth one by November.

The new proposal could cost more than Rs 50,000 crore.

Indian officials say the S-400 helped protect the country during Operation Sindoor.

A retired Air Marshal said one system destroyed a Pakistani surveillance aircraft from 314 kilometres away.

The new units could be placed along India’s eastern and western borders.

The United States has objected to India’s S-400 purchases and could impose sanctions.

Some officials are also concerned that relying heavily on Russian technology could make spare parts and software updates harder to obtain.
