A speeding two-wheeler allegedly hit her on Quarry Road.
The rider reportedly left without stopping.
People nearby took Panchal to a hospital.
Doctors later moved her to another hospital for more treatment.
She died while receiving care shortly after midnight.
Her son reported the incident to the police.
Police are now trying to find the rider.
Seventy-one-year-old Jaywanti Namdev Panchal was seriously injured by a two-wheeler on Quarry Road in Bhandup West.
The crash allegedly occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on August 31 as Panchal walked toward a nearby temple.
The unidentified rider allegedly fled without helping Panchal or informing police.
Panchal was taken to Devki Hospital and later referred to Criti Care Hospital.
She died during treatment at about 12:10 a.m. on September 1, and Bhandup police registered a case while searching for the rider.
