Pollachi Student Arrested Over Gold Theft, Boyfriend’s Bike Purchase
Police say a 19-year-old college student in Pollachi allegedly took gold jewellery from a family friend’s house.
The jewellery reportedly weighed nine sovereigns.
She allegedly sold it for about Rs 2.5 lakh.

The couple later made a video celebrating the bike purchase.

The student was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
Police are still looking for her boyfriend, who they say is missing.
Police arrested 19-year-old college student R Joy Princy in Pollachi over the alleged theft of nine sovereigns of gold jewellery.
The jewellery allegedly belonged to H Tamilselvan, a friend of Princy’s father, and was taken from his home on August 16.
Police said the jewellery was sold for around Rs 2.5 lakh at a Pollachi jewellery store.
The money was allegedly used to buy a new two-wheeler for Princy’s boyfriend, Janagan Siva.
A video of the couple celebrating the bike purchase went viral, while police continue searching for Siva.
