Sarojini Naidu’s Will and Letters to Be Preserved at UoH
Sarojini Naidu was a poet and freedom fighter.
Her will, letters and personal belongings will now be kept safely by the University of Hyderabad.
The materials were handed over at Golden Threshold in Hyderabad.
Golden Threshold was once connected to the university’s arts and communication school.
The building was donated for education by Naidu’s daughter, Padmaja Naidu.
The university hopes to restore the building and use it again.
Author Sheela Reddy helped collect some of the rare materials.
Visitors were shown the restored building and the preserved objects.
Sarojini Naidu’s will, letters and personal artefacts were formally handed over to the University of Hyderabad.
The transfer took place under a Telangana government order dated February 9, 2026.
The materials will be preserved as part of efforts to revive the historic Golden Threshold in Hyderabad’s Abids area.
Golden Threshold previously housed the University of Hyderabad’s Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication until its 2003 relocation.
Guests toured the restored building and viewed the preserved artefacts and renovation work.
