Masaba Gupta Returns to the Ramp With Playful Bridal Couture
Fearless and fun - Telegraph India · telegraphindia.com

Masaba Gupta showed a new bridal collection called Chardi Kala at a major fashion week in Delhi.

It was her first time presenting at India Couture Week.

She had not done a runway show for six years because she was busy growing her business.

The collection mixed traditional Indian clothing with modern pieces.

It used bright ideas, large motifs, layered jewellery and bold styling.

Masaba wanted people to remember that fashion can be fun, not only serious or focused on selling.

She said her ideal bride makes her own decisions and does not worry too much about other people’s opinions.

The show also featured models Carol Gracias and Madhu Sapre.

Masaba said she respects Gen Z’s focus on smart work, collaboration and results.

Quotes

Masaba Gupta

Indian fashion designer and actor discussing her runway hiatus

“I don’t think I missed the ramp as such over the last six years because I was busy building the retail arm of the brand, shaping what the organisation would look like and developing the categories that would eventually form the larger pieces of the brand.”

“Gen Z is possibly the most misunderstood generation. They have been branded as a certain type for a very long time, and while some of that branding might hold true, I think the majority have actually been misunderstood.”
