Koyil Sagar Releases Water Through Canals for Farmers

Koyil Sagar Releases Water Through Canals for Farmers
Koyil Sagar water released through right and left canals · thehansindia.com

Water from the Koyil Sagar reservoir was sent through two canals for farmers.

The water will first help fill nearby tanks and recharge borewells.

The reservoir has about 0.9 TMC of water.

Of this, 0.6 TMC is kept for drinking water.

Officials normally release canal water only when the reservoir has at least 1.5 TMC.

Because there is less water now, farmers were told not to start new crops just because the canals are flowing.

They were advised to grow crops that need less water and mature quickly.

More irrigation water may be provided after officials check the reservoir level in a week.
