A leader in Telangana named Madhusudhan Reddy, also called GMR, switched on big water pumps to send water through canals to nearby villages.

The water comes from a project called the Kurumurthy Raya Lift Irrigation Scheme.

The water is going to Dupally, Kothapally, Ammapur and Kurumurthy villages.

GMR said the government is watching flood water arriving from upstream areas.

He said they decide how much water to release based on the situation and farmers' needs.

GMR is unhappy with the old government, called BRS, which ruled before the Congress party.

He said Telangana got much less Krishna river water than Andhra Pradesh, even though most of the river basin is in Telangana.

He promised that the current Chief Minister's government will protect farmers' interests.

GMR also started building a new village office building at Kothapally.
