Government Raises Post-Matric Scholarship Support for Scheduled Caste Students

The government gives scholarships to Scheduled Caste students studying after school.

The money helps eligible students continue higher education.

The planned scholarship budget rose over the three years from 2023–24 to 2025–26.

The government’s actual spending was higher than the revised budget in each of those years.

Money is sent to states and Union Territories, which help run the scheme.

Since 2021–22, the Central share has gone directly into students’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

States must release their own share and verify student information before receiving the Central share.

The government says this system is meant to make payments faster and more transparent.
