Tirumala Brahmotsavams Begin With Pedda Sesha Vahana Procession
Tirumala is holding a major religious festival called the Salakatla Brahmotsavams.
The festival began with special ceremonies for Lord Venkateswara.
Sri Malayappa Swamy was carried through the streets on a decorated golden palanquin.
He was accompanied by Sri Devi and Bhu Devi.
In the evening, the deity was taken on the Pedda Sesha Vahanam.
This vehicle represents Adi Sesha, the serpent associated with Lord Vishnu.
Its seven hoods represent Lord Venkateswara’s seven hills.
Devotees watched the procession while cultural groups performed traditional music and dances.
Vahana Sevas began Tuesday at Tirumala during the Salakatla Brahmotsavams.
Sri Malayappa Swamy, accompanied by Sri Devi and Bhu Devi, was taken through the four mada streets.
The traditional Dhwajarohanam ceremony was performed inside the hill shrine.
The evening Pedda Sesha Vahanam procession featured cultural performances including dances, kolatam, bhajans and drum performances.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu attended with his family and several ministers and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams officials.
