BJP Leader Dinesh Sharma Named Andaman Nicobar Lieutenant Governor
Dinesh Sharma has been chosen to become the new Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, or BJP.
He currently serves as a member of India’s Rajya Sabha.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan announced the appointment on Saturday night.
Sharma will officially start the job when he takes charge.
He is 62 years old.
Before this, he was the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
His term in the Rajya Sabha was due to end on November 25.
He is also the Rajya Sabha’s vice chairperson.
