Yamaha Globally Launches Made-in-India YZF-R2 in 200cc Segment
Yamaha has launched a new motorcycle called the YZF-R2 in India.
The bike was made at Yamaha's factory in Chennai and was introduced as a global launch.
It is a lightweight sportsbike placed above the YZF-R15.
Its liquid-cooled engine is described as either 200cc or 204cc in the reports.
The engine produces about 26.5 units of power and 19.1 Nm of torque.
Buyers can reserve the motorcycle by paying Rs 10,000, which will count toward the final price.
Deliveries are expected to start in mid-September.
The bike has safety and riding features such as traction control, riding modes, and ABS.
Yamaha says the engine was built from scratch rather than enlarged from an older platform.
India Yamaha Motor launched the YZF-R2 globally from its Chennai manufacturing unit at Rs 2.30 lakh, or Rs 2,30,500 ex-showroom in Delhi.
The lightweight sportbike is positioned above the YZF-R15 and marks Yamaha's entry into India's 200cc segment.
The newly developed liquid-cooled engine is described as 200cc in one report and 204cc in another, producing 26.5 bhp or PS and 19.1 Nm of torque.
Pre-bookings began earlier this month with a Rs 10,000 token amount adjustable against the final purchase price; deliveries are scheduled for mid-September.
The YZF-R2 includes traction control, selectable riding modes, an assist and slipper clutch, upside-down front forks, and dual-channel ABS as standard.
