GCC Seeks Rs 847.80 Crore Property Tax Dues by September 30
The Greater Chennai Corporation collects property tax from owners in Chennai.
This money helps pay for services such as roads, parks, streetlights, waste management and public health.
Many property owners have already paid their taxes.
However, more than six lakh owners still owe money.
Together, they owe Rs 847.80 crore.
The Corporation wants them to pay their old and current dues by September 30.
If they do not pay on time, more interest may be added.
People can pay online, through WhatsApp, at Corporation offices or through approved payment methods.
The Greater Chennai Corporation says Rs 847.80 crore in property tax remains unpaid.
The outstanding amount is owed by 6,03,232 of the city’s 14,15,771 liable property owners.
So far, 8,12,539 property owners have cleared their property tax dues.
The GCC urged owners to pay current and pending taxes by September 30 to avoid further interest.
Payments are available through the GCC website, mobile app, WhatsApp chatbot, QR codes, offices and other channels.
