Adhikari to lay Rs 4,000-crore steel plant foundation in Purulia

A big new steel factory is coming to Purulia, a district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

The state's leader, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, is going to lay the foundation stone to start the building work.

The factory, being built by a company called Amit Metaliks, will cost about Rs 4,000 crore, which is a very large amount of money.

It is meant to be good for the environment and is expected to create around 5,000 jobs.

That means many local people may be able to find work close to home instead of leaving to find jobs far away.

During his visit, the Chief Minister will also open a new drinking water project in Manbazar that should help nine blocks in Purulia get clean water.

Roads and a bridge are being repaired to get ready for his visit.

Some local leaders, like MLA Mamoni Bauri, said the old government had not helped people and that this new project is part of a big change.

They hope the factory and other plans, such as redeveloping Charra Airport, will bring a major transformation to Purulia's economy.
