Supplyco Onam Sales Cross Rs 422 Crore, Minister Says
Supplyco is a government-run shop network in Kerala.
It sells some important food items at lower, subsidised prices.
The minister said its Onam sales reached more than Rs 422 crore.
These sales were counted over 35 days ending on August 25.
The statement said many prices did not increase, and some prices became lower.
Supplyco also said its shops had enough goods for shoppers.
It held large and local fairs for Onam shopping.
It also gave out more than 5.9 lakh free Onam food kits.
Supplyco recorded Rs 422.17 crore in turnover during a 35-day Onam period ending August 25, according to Minister Anoop Jacob.
The chain’s turnover reached Rs 350.21 crore during the first 25 days, from August 1 to August 25.
The statement said most subsidised prices were unchanged, while prices of several essential commodities were reduced.
Supplyco and Consumerfed outlets offered 13 subsidised products without price increases and maintained adequate stocks.
Supplyco organised 140 Onam fairs and completed distribution of 5,93,408 free Onam kits four days before Thiruvonam.
