Kerala CM: SupplyCo self-sufficiency and price-hike prevention top priorities
Kerala's leader, called the Chief Minister, wants a special government-owned company named SupplyCo to be able to run on its own.
SupplyCo sells everyday things people need, like food items, at fair prices.
Its job is to make sure food is available to everyone and that shop prices do not go too high.
The Chief Minister said that stopping prices from rising is one of the most important jobs of the government.
He talked about this at a big Onam festival fair in a place called Kaloor.
At the fair, people can buy 13 special cheap products and other necessary items.
The Chief Minister also opened a special event to honor the world's Indigenous Peoples.
At that event, the government started a new online service portal and a health program called Janana Suraksha – Aarogya Jeevan.
The event also gave thanks to traditional healers, village chiefs, and tribal students who did very well in school.
Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan said making state-run company SupplyCo self-sufficient is a top priority of the UDF government.
SupplyCo's stated purpose is to regulate market prices of essential commodities and ensure food security.
Other government priorities include carrying out market interventions and preventing price hikes, the CM said in a Facebook post.
The state-level SupplyCo Onam Mega Trade Fair in Kaloor offers 13 subsidised products and other essential items.
Satheesan also inaugurated a state-level programme for the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples at the Tribal Complex in Ernakulam, launching a Service Portal and the Janana Suraksha – Aarogya Jeevan health initiative.
