Kerala Onam Liquor Sales Reach Rs 771 Crore
During Onam, many people in Kerala bought alcohol from government-run stores.
In the first eight days, these stores sold alcohol worth about Rs 771 crore.
That was more than the same period during the previous Onam season.
The previous year’s total was about Rs 695 crore.
On August 25, called Uthradam, sales reached about Rs 126 crore.
However, that one-day figure was lower than the previous year’s Uthradam sales.
Officials expect the full-season sales to be higher than Rs 826 crore.
The stores are operated by the Kerala State Beverages Corporation, also called Bevco.
Kerala recorded liquor sales of Rs 771.29 crore through Bevco outlets during the first eight days of the 10-day Onam season.
Sales during the comparable period last year totaled Rs 694.96 crore.

Uthradam sales were lower than the previous year’s Rs 137.64 crore.
