Twenty-five local fishermen helped remove the fish.

More than 36 tonnes of fish were taken from the ponds.

The fish was buried in pits and destroyed.

Officials said the action was meant to protect public health and the environment.

They also said about 51 tonnes had been destroyed in similar operations over the last three months.
