Nagpur Fisheries Department Destroys 36 Tonnes of Banned Thai Mangur

Officials in Nagpur found banned Thai Mangur fish being raised in 11 ponds.

They acted after receiving information about illegal fish farming and sales.

The team used maps and pretend customers to check the information.

Twenty-five local fishermen helped remove the fish.

More than 36 tonnes of fish were taken from the ponds.

The fish was buried in pits and destroyed.

Officials said the action was meant to protect public health and the environment.

They also said about 51 tonnes had been destroyed in similar operations over the last three months.
