Delhi BJP chief credits agencies for minimal waterlogging amid rains
In Delhi, a big city in India, it rained a lot, and the streets did not flood much this time.
A leader named Harsh Malhotra said the people who take care of the city did a great job.
He thanked the Delhi Jal Board, which provides water, the MCD, which cleans the streets, and the traffic police.
He remembered that from 2015 to 2024, heavy rain used to flood roads all over Delhi.
This time, water covered only a few main roads and disappeared quickly after the rain stopped.
In an old market area called Sadar Bazar, workers and pumping machines helped keep things dry.
He promised that by the rainy season of 2027, flooding will be completely gone.
He also said that by 2028, Delhi will become a model city for others to follow.
On the same day, he remembered a famous lady leader named Sushma Swaraj, who used to lead Delhi and India's foreign ministry.
He said she was the voice of India and a symbol of women's empowerment.
Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra credited the Delhi Jal Board, the MCD and the Delhi Traffic Police for minimal waterlogging and near-normal traffic movement during rains since Wednesday.
Malhotra said waterlogging remained limited to a few stretches of major roads and cleared soon after the rain stopped, unlike 2015-2024 when rains turned Delhi's roads and drains into flooded networks.
The improved situation in Sadar Bazar, Old Delhi was attributed to continuous deployment of Delhi Jal Board and MCD sanitation staff along with the installation of pumping systems.
Crediting Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's leadership, he assured that by the 2027 monsoon waterlogging will be a thing of the past and by the 2028 monsoon Delhi will emerge as a model city.
Earlier in the day, Malhotra paid tributes to former Union Minister and Delhi Chief Minister Sushma Swaraj on her death anniversary, calling her 'the voice of India' and a symbol of women's empowerment.
