Rain Chokes Delhi Roads: 81 Waterlogging Calls, 32 Fallen Trees
It rained a lot in Delhi, a big city in India.
The rain was so heavy that some places received more than 100 millimeters of water in a single day.
So much water made the roads flood, which is called waterlogging.
Some trees also fell down in the rain.
Cars and buses got stuck in very long traffic jams, and people had to wait a long time to get where they were going.
The southern part of Delhi had the most problems.
The people in charge of roads got many phone calls from people asking for help.
A leader named Parvesh Verma said some roads are being fixed, and fixing roads can cause problems.
He also said some videos showing the problems were old.
Many roads stayed blocked for the whole day.
Heavy rain on Friday caused waterlogging and traffic snarls across Delhi, with 81 waterlogging calls and 32 fallen-tree complaints logged by PWD and NDMC.
South and southeast Delhi were worst hit, including Mahipalpur, Chhatarpur, Okhla, Sangam Vihar, Sainik Farms, Vasant Kunj and Greater Kailash-II.
Pushp Vihar recorded 111.5 mm of rain and Chhatarpur 104.5 mm between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, among the highest totals.
Long queues formed on Ring Road, NH-48, Mathura Road and the Gurugram-Dhaula Kuan corridor as multiple bottlenecks emerged at once.
PWD Minister Parvesh Verma said problems occurred where drainage work is underway and accused the Opposition of sharing videos of issues predating the current government.
