Heavy Rain Forecast Across North, Northeast and Southern India
Weather officials expect rain in many parts of India next week.
Some places in the north could get very heavy showers.
Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh are among the areas at risk.
The Northeast may also become wetter, especially Assam, Meghalaya and nearby states.
Parts of central and eastern India could receive rain through early October.
Kerala and coastal Karnataka may get more widespread rain.
Very heavy rain was already recorded in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Bihar.
At the same time, the monsoon season is beginning to move away from northwestern India.
The India Meteorological Department forecast rainfall across several parts of India during the coming week.
Northwest India may see heavy to very heavy rain, especially in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
Assam, Meghalaya and several other northeastern states are expected to receive heavy rainfall around 29-30 September.
Kerala and coastal Karnataka may experience more widespread rainfall from late September into early October.
The southwest monsoon has withdrawn from much of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, all of Delhi, and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
