The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing better facilities at a famous temple in Vijayawada.

These improvements are planned before the Dasara festival.

Two new buildings for preparing and serving temple food have opened.

One building can feed 800 people at one time.

The other building will prepare, pack, and store items such as laddus and pongal.

New machines will help workers prepare food faster and keep it clean.

Officials are also studying a second hill road to reduce traffic and help emergency vehicles.

More parking, rooms, sanitation, drinking water, security, and other services are being planned for devotees.

New facilities cost
The Sri Kanakadurga Annaprasada Sadanam and Sri Durga Bhavani Mahaprasada Bhavanam cost a combined Rs 52.50 crore.
Annaprasada Sadanam
Built at a cost of Rs 26 crore over 5,400 square metres, with a dining hall for 800 devotees.
Mahaprasada Bhavanam
Built at a cost of Rs 26.50 crore across four floors and 3,600 square metres.
Proposed second ghat road
A feasibility study is under way for a 700-metre road from Kummaripalem.
Proposed devotee complex
Three acres of land at Kummaripalem may be used for a seven-storey building with multi-level parking and rooms for about 15,000 devotees.
Festival priorities
Drinking water, milk and prasadam distribution, sanitation, and security are being prioritised for Sharannavaratri.
