EC Extends Jharkhand Voter Roll Claims Deadline to September 30
The Election Commission is checking and updating voter lists in Jharkhand.
Some people’s names were removed from the draft list.
People can now complain or ask for corrections until September 30.
This is the second time the deadline has been extended.
The final updated voter list will be published on October 19.
The first deadline was September 4, and it was later moved to September 15.
The draft list has 2.21 crore voters.
Before the checking began, Jharkhand had 2.64 crore electors.
The Election Commission extended Jharkhand’s deadline for filing claims and objections over deleted voter names to September 30.
The extension is the second for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The revised voter list will still be published on October 19.
Draft rolls published on August 5 showed 2.21 crore voters, after more than 43.61 lakh names were deleted.
The enumeration exercise was conducted from June 30 to July 29, with the state previously having 2.64 crore electors.
