Vizag domestic flights suspended as Bhogapuram airport opens

Planes that used to take off and land in the city of Visakhapatnam are moving to a brand-new airport nearby, in a place called Bhogapuram.

Tonight at midnight, the old airport will stop handling domestic flights.

From then on, planes will use the new airport instead.

Many airlines that fly there have already shared their new schedules.

The new airport is an international airport, which means it will welcome flights from other countries too.

It is all set to welcome its first passengers very soon.

The first planes are scheduled to take off from the new airport starting August 17.

This is a big moment for aviation in North Andhra.

Passengers will now need to travel to the new airport instead of the old one.
