Shivchaturya Din Marks Shivaji Maharaj's Agra Escape, Memorial Planned
Long ago, in 1666, a brave king named Shivaji Maharaj was held in a city called Agra.
He cleverly escaped from the place where he was being kept.
People still remember this amazing escape today.
On August 17, people in Agra celebrated a special day called 'Shivchaturya Din' to remember it.
Ministers from two Indian states, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, came together for the celebration.
They visited places in Agra connected to Shivaji Maharaj's story.
The two states also plan to build a big memorial in Agra to honor him.
A group of about 200 people will cycle and run all the way from Agra to Rajgad, a distance of 1,310 kilometers.
Along the way, they plan to plant many seeds.
There was also a cultural program with music, theater, and martial arts performances.
'Shivchaturya Din' was observed in Agra to mark Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's historic escape from detention on August 17, 1666.
Maharashtra ministers Jaykumar Rawal and Bharat Sheth Gogawale visited historic sites in Agra, including Meena Bazaar, Sevla Sarai and an ancient Shiva temple.
A grand memorial for Shivaji Maharaj is planned in Agra through coordination between the Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh governments.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured cooperation, and architect Abha Narain Lambah has been appointed for the memorial project.
The Garud Zep campaign involves around 200 participants cycling and running 1,310 km from Agra to Rajgad, with plans to sow one lakh seeds along the route.
