Sikkim MP Indra Hang Subba has asked the railway minister to give attention to two proposed railway lines.

One would connect Rangpo and Ranipool, and the other would link Melli and Dentam.

Subba also asked the central government to help speed up a survey for the Melli-Dentam line.

The proposed Rangpo-Ranipool route would be about 30 kilometres long.

The Melli-Dentam route is expected to be about 80 kilometres long.

A separate railway line between Sivok and Rangpo is already being built.

It is 44.96 kilometres long and is targeted for completion by December 2027.

Supporters say better railways could help people and goods move around and benefit tourism and businesses.
