Bairabi-Sairang Rail Link Transforms Mizoram Travel and Freight
Bairabi-Sairang railway line: How Mizoram’s new rail link is changing passenger travel and freight movement · financialexpress.com

Mizoram used to depend heavily on roads because its hills make travel difficult.

A new railway line now connects Bairabi and Sairang.

Sairang is closer to Aizawl, Mizoram’s capital.

Trains can take passengers to places such as Guwahati, Kolkata and Delhi.

A passenger service also connects Sairang with Silchar.

In its first year, more than 15 lakh people used the trains.

Freight trains brought goods such as cement, rice and fertilisers into the state.

This gives people and businesses another way to move passengers and supplies.
