Indian Coast Guard Mumbai Champions Handloom on National Handloom Day

Every year on August 7th, India celebrates National Handloom Day.

This special day remembers something that happened long ago, in 1905, called the Swadeshi Movement.

During that movement, people were encouraged to use things made in their own country, India.

Handloom means cloth that is woven by hand on a special loom, instead of by big machines.

The day is meant to help people buy and use these beautiful handmade Indian fabrics.

This year, the Indian Coast Guard in Mumbai joined in the celebration.

They held a workshop in a place called Nagpada, where people learned about handloom products.

They also watched a video and listened to a speech about why handmade Indian clothes are wonderful.

At the end, everyone took a group photo to show their support.

The message of the day is simple: using Indian handlooms helps keep this special craft alive.
