Thane Coastal Road Reaches 40% Progress, Piling Work Nears Completion
The Thane Coastal Road-1 is a new six-lane road being built near Thane.
Construction has reached 40% completion after 14 months.
Workers have finished most of the foundation piles needed for the road.
They have also built many piers and installed hundreds of large bridge beams called girders.
Parts of the road will be elevated to reduce harm to mangrove areas.
The route will connect Kharegaon with Gaymukh.
It is intended to make travel and freight movement easier while reducing traffic on Ghodbunder Road.
Later, it is planned to connect with a tunnel toward Bhayandar.
The 13.45-kilometre Thane Coastal Road-1 project has achieved 40% overall progress in 14 months.
Workers have completed 332 of 426 working piles, representing 77% of planned piling work.
A total of 277 piers and 460 pier caps have been completed.
Construction crews have installed 501 of 1,632 I-girders and finished 13 deck-slab spans.
The six-lane corridor will connect Kharegaon Toll Plaza with Gaymukh while reducing pressure on Ghodbunder Road.
